Ashland - Bayfield County Dispatch Consolidation Project

In an effort to provide a high level of support and essential services to the field responders and communities of Ashland and Bayfield Counties while maintaining healthy and sustainable staff, Ashland and Bayfield Counties have begun working together on the 2023 Consolidated Dispatch Project.

In June 2022, Ashland and Bayfield Counties resumed serious discussions regarding the consolidation of the county’s 911 dispatch centers. Multiple justifications for the consolidation have come up for discussion. 

An initial feasibility study determined that from a technical, economic, and practical perspective, a joint dispatch was possible. In February and March of this year, the Bayfield and Ashland County Boards approved proceeding with planning for a joint dispatch program. The main goal is to increase dispatch services to both counties and create a better working environment for staff.
