Immunizations

Immunizations are available at no cost to infants and children 18 and under who qualify under the Vaccine for Children program. Learn more about the VFC program.

Adult immunizations are available for a fee (Tetanus boosters, flu shots, Hepatitis B, etc.). Please call Bayfield County Health Department at 715-373-6109 to schedule an appointment.

Fluoride Supplement Program

Children to age 5 are eligible for fluoride supplements if the household drinking water is deficient in fluoride.

Postpartum / Newborn Home Visits

Bayfield County Public Health Nurses offer home visits to all new moms (and dads) shortly after hospital discharge. This is a good opportunity to have any questions you may have answered as well as a height and weight check on your baby, connecting you to local resources that you might benefit from, breastfeeding support, and more. Prenatal Care Coordination

A public health nurse will work with pregnant clients throughout pregnancy. The nurse visits to provide health pregnancy education and support. Find more information on the Prenatal Care Coordination Program.

Lead Screening

No-cost screening for lead poisoning offered to any children to age 6.

Tuberculosis Skin Testing

Tuberculosis skin testing is available by appointment. Please call Bayfield County Health Department for more information.

Well Water Testing

Well testing kits are available to personal residences with pregnant women or young children in the home. Bayfield County also has a well water testing program for businesses or other organizations. Find out more about water quality testing.

Nutritional Supplement Program

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children. The Bay Area WIC program provides families with supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. The Bay Area WIC program services families in Ashland, Bayfield and Iron Counties. Learn more about the Bay Area WIC project .
