[ARCHIVED] September is Falls Prevention Awareness Month!

September is Falls Prevention Awareness Month.  Falls continue to be the single greatest cause of accidental death for older adults – both locally and nationally – but Wisconsin’s death rate for adults age 65 or older is more than double the national average according to the CDC.  The good news is that county and tribal aging offices, ADRCs, and community partners throughout Wisconsin are engaged in falls awareness and prevention efforts this month and all year long.  Contact the ADRC of the North at 1-866-663-3607 to learn more about falls prevention programs in your community. Watch this video from Wiscsonsin Heathy Aging for additional information.
