UW-Extension in partnership with CheqBay Renewables and the City of Ashland will be hosting a Renewable Energy Winter Workshop Series with sessions happening each month this winter.  The purpose of the workshops is to provide information to homeowners, businesses, and governments on renewable energy options including biomass, solar, and geothermal.

The kickoff event is scheduled for November 30, from 6:30-8:00 at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center.

The session is titled “Understanding the Grid” with a presentation from Gary Radloff of the UW Energy Institute.  The proposed transmission line in Bayfield County has raised a lot of questions about how we produce, transfer, and use electricity.  Gary will provide an overview of “the grid” and will also discuss policy and infrastructure issues related to renewable and distributed energy systems.
