Bayfield County is applying for a Federal Transportation Grant to be used to upgrade county highways A, south of Iron River and a portion of N, west of A to Highway 27.
The upgrade would be to “all season” status, meaning no spring load limits or postings on these sections. In addition to improving transportation for citizens of Bayfield County, these upgrades are important to the County’s forestry industry.
Bayfield County is the largest public land forestry county in the State of Wisconsin and hundreds of thousands of acres of private forest land. Forestry is a critical industry in Bayfield County.
