Bayfield County is offering a $1000 scholarship to a high school senior who lives within the Bayfield County area. For this scholarship, the applicant will have to attend one municipal (City, Town, Village, Tribal) meeting and one county board meeting between December 1st, 2018 and April 22nd, 2019. The applicant will speak briefly during open comment informing the board their intent to apply for the scholarship, including: their name, school, any interest they may have in local government and their reason for applying for the scholarship. On or before April 22nd, the applicant will submit a one-page essay on "Why I Would Consider Running for Public Office". The essay will be judged by the Bayfield County Board and shall be awarded at the April Bayfield County Board Meeting or as soon thereafter as feasible. The scholarship announcement will be distributed at the school or group's Award Ceremony by a Bayfield County Board member or designee. A check will be written to the school.
