3. How can I find out about safe canning and other kinds of food preservation?: Visit the University of Wisconsin Food Safety and Health website for information on food safety and preservation. For a list of upcoming classes, check out our calendar. University of Wisconsin Food Safety and Health

4. Where can I get my pressure canner tested for accuracy?: Make an appointment to test your dial gauge pressure canner by calling the UW-Extension Family Living office: 715-373-6104 ext 2. Dial gauge canners should be tested annually. Weighted gauge pressure canners do not need to be tested.

6. How can I find information about selling foods I make?: A license is required to sell most kinds of foods. (For execptions to this, see the question on the Pickle Bill on the FAQ page.) Depending on the type of food sold and where it's sold, licences may be issued by the county health department or the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection (WDATCP). The publication, Starting a Food Business (link below) from UW-Extension, provides information on licensing and training.
