I want genetic testing. Where do I do this? How much does it cost? What if I don't live in Bayfield County?: Genetic testing is offered in cases where there is no father listed on the birth certificate. Contact our agency to schedule genetic testing. You will be required to sign a statement requesting the testing and may be required to pay the fee in advance. If you live outside of the area, we can arrange to have specimens drawn at a more convenient location. Generally the cost is less than $75.

1. I have a change of address/employment, how do I update that?: Please report changes of address, telephone number and employment to Bayfield County Child Support agency. You can call, email or stop in.

2. I have a new child support case. How will I receive my child support payments?: You have two options for child support payments, direct deposit into a bank account or debit card. If you want direct deposit, you must complete a direct deposit application. If you do nothing or would like a debit card, you will automatically be sent a debit card after the first payment is received.

4. I want to file my own motion with the Clerk of Court. How do I do that?: Wisconsin court forms are available online.

5. What happens if I lost/quit my job?: All payers of child support are required to notify the child support agency of any change of employment within 48 hours. Please contact our agency as soon as possible to discuss your situation.

6. The other parent isn't allowing me to have visitation with my child. What do I do?: Child support agencies can not mediate problems with visitation. You should contact the Family Court Commissioner at 715-373-5909. You can also contact the Wisconsin Lawyer Referral Service.

7. I usually receive my child support payments on Tuesdays. Its Wednesday and I haven't received it.: Payers have the entire month to make payments. Please allow at least two weeks before calling the child support agency to report a missing payment. There are several factors that affect the timing of child support, mail, holidays, payroll changes, etc.

8. I want to change my child support order. How do I do that?: Please contact the child support agency to request a review of your child support order. You will be required to submit your request in writing and will need to provide proof of your income.

9. Why is there a child support lien on my car?: Administrative liens are liens placed on a payer by operation of law - that is, without obtaining a court order. Unpaid child support is automatically considered a lien against a payer's property. It affects all titled property (real and personal) the payer holds such as land, motor vehicles, accounts at financial institutions, recreational vehicles.
